Here you are:

1. Restrict the use of polluting vehicles: Reducing the use of engines that emit harmful particles in our environment is the need of the hour.

If you follow the same route every day, organize car pools with your office co-workers or take a public transport system. If the distance isn’t too large, consider walking all the way. It can keep you healthy as well.

2. Clean with Green: When there were no fancy soaps and detergents, basic ingredients of these hybrids items were used for cleaning directly. Baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice are some such examples that can be used at home for cleaning purposes.

4. Reduce the use of air conditioners: By reducing usage of air conditioners, you not only save energy, but save ozone layer from the destructive CFCs which are released from the air conditioner machines.

Find alternate ways to reduce the use like by the place ventilated with fresh air and using warmer clothes during winter. Sweating a bit won’t harm your body at all!

10. Recycle or Buy Reusable: Using a recycled product is not only about reducing the burden on the environment of handling another piece of waste, but it also comes friendly on your pocket. Also go for recycling of your domestic waste, instead of dumping it all in trash.

Every human living on the nutrition and shelter provided by mother earth wants to repay the debt or atleast show gratitude towards her selfless endeavor.

But the dilemma arises where personal achievements override this obligation. But a slightest of effort from everyone change go a long way in making a positive change.

Going green doesn’t refer to planting a million trees. Simply changing our high energy consuming bulbs to much more efficient fluorescent tubes is also a remarkable contribution.

Now many governments are stepping in to motivate people by offering them financial rewards and incentives for choosing to help and contribute towards making our environment sustainable. For instance, New York State has offered tax exemption on improvement which tends to converse energy.

This incentive goes a long way in encouraging people to apply for energy efficient systems as the government rebates the property tax payable on such additions, as it will increase the value of the residual or commercial establishment.

This incentive is applied on a range of electronic appliances like water heaters, biomass-fuel stoves, air conditioners etc. Solar energy systems are obviously eligible for this scheme.

Apart from this, special thrust is laid on the use of renewable sources of energy like solar, wind and nuclear energy.

When we talk about living eco friendly, we generally refer to ecological homes and neighborhood. Not much talk or interest is dedicated to making office environment green.

These days, the competition is so stiff that most people tend to spend more time at work than at homes. If we learn to create a green office environment, we might as well end up contributing a lot more to our mother nature.

Computer Energy Efficiency:
Computers are lifeline of every business establishment. One should follow protocols issued for least energy usage on computers, like use screensavers and put the computer on auto sleep mode when not in use.

Old computers must be donated for re-use instead of thrashing them away.

Air Quality:
For cleaner air and lesser usage of air conditioners, make proper arrangements for ventilation of air throughout the office at crucial points.

Lights:
Do not waste electricity on lights just because its not your liability to pay the bills. At the end of the day, we’ve to work towards a phase of sustainable development where we can provide the same level of facilities to our coming generations.

Reuse and Recycle:
Put recycling bins at a number of places so that office waste like paper is available for reuse into much better purposes than just wasting away.
